“I love criticism just so long as it’s unqualified praise.” — Noël Coward
So you’ve decided to publish your work. You’re going to get reviews and feedback, and you need to decide how you’re going to deal with it. Hannah and Diane discuss how they deal with reviews and feedback, with edits and beta readers.
Books and media discussed:
- Mercury retrograde: a really silly astrological concept that says that when Mercury moves “backwards” in the heavens, all sorts of things will go wrong. Planets don’t move backward. Your computer did not stop working because of what a planet did (or, in fact did not) do. However, it is really convenient shorthand that means, “Wow, nothing is working for me at the moment.”
- The Passive Voice, a blog talking about self-publishing issues.
- Daring Greatly by Brené Brown: a really wonderful exploration of what it takes to reach beyond your comfort zone (and the accompanying hostility and shame that comes with doing that).
- Mindset by Carol Dweck: Diane and Hannah have discussed this book before, but it shows you that how you think about things is more valuable even than what you think about…and you can change how you think about things.
Please leave us a review (and some feedback) on iTunes! We really do appreciate every review we get…and think about how valuable you’ve found reviews when researching a product! Thanks.
